Kate Shively started her career in elementary education as an educator for all learners. Currently, I am an instructor and supervisor for elementary pre-service teachers (both graduate and undergraduate students). My research examines the intersection of elementary curriculum, arts, and alternative learning environments. I am currently researching relationships, personal development, and media arts integration in an elementary nonformal program for all learners.  I designed and implemented a digitally progressive art studio for elementary children called Saturday Studio in collaboration with both the Curriculum & Instruction and Art Education Departments at Indiana University. Saturday Studio is in its sixth semester of providing a space for both children and adults to make, play, and learn using various digital media and technologies.
