Crafting Lets Plays 2
I will be presenting at the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum in October, 2013 a paper that shares findings from a case study of one child making Lets Plays and tutorials for a game called, Minecraft. The purpose of the study was to explore how new media technologies make it possible for a child to explore personally meaningful questions through making a digital artifact. Consequently, I asked one child how she might utilize her choice of new media to answer a question she determined – which was: How can Minecraft help you explore the world? The presentation will cover how she created different types of videos to teach a new players how to navigate, explore, build, and play in Minecraft.
Minecraft has been used in Saturday Studio for the last two implementations and will be back on the list of platforms for this semester, too.
